who one is, how one has changed, and what one might be like in the future.

Greetings and salutations. This is Lyndon Wolf.

And you have joined. My audio memoir here for the memories. I'm so glad you're here. I hope you enjoy this little episode and  stories that I have to share.

In 1983 as a naive, but eager 22-year-old . I was privileged to get paid by mainline denomination that will remain nameless.  I don't want to throw up in the back of my mouth. To preach at churches throughout Oregon and Washington. It was an amazing. Transformative experience. I had a couple of other young people with me.

One led the music and the other played the piano. I won't go into all the locations, but I found Seattle fascinating.  Until I knowingly went into a gay bar to have lunch. All these men were overly friendly and I couldn't figure out why. Maybe I thought Seattle was just filled with friendly people.  Um, until the light bulb went off.

Also Madras, Oregon.  Near the land owned by the Bhagwan Rajneesh cult and where I stayed at the horny. Farm. That's a real name and they grew meant. Which I don't think is an aphrodisiac.  And of course, Klamath falls, Oregon.  I spent two weeks in Klamath falls. A little known fact about that place.  On May 5th, 1945, a Japanese balloon bomb killed six people. In that area, including our team, Mitchell's wife, Elise, and their five children. The bombing occurred near Gearhart mountain.

All the family was on a fishing trip.  The victims are the only people killed by enemy action on the us mainland during world war two.  And that crazy. Uh, stone monument with a bronze plaque listing. The names of the victims is located at the site of the explosion.  Okay.

None of this is germane to the point I'm trying to make. When I arrived in Seattle for a week of training and prep,  I was already limping from a rollerskating accident. I should've known better. Because my balance is suspect at best.  But our Reese sprained that ankle soon after arriving.

Then there was the four Wheeler accident. Riding the sand dunes of north bend, Oregon.

I topped one with the throttle full bore. As I've been mourn, the wind had blown the backside of the dune away. So it was launched in the air much like a ski jumper at the winter Olympics. Bon landing. I was thrown forward. The ATV flipped over and its momentum caused it to land.

On top of me, this is real by the way, as I was now facing toward the sky.  The end result, bruise ribs, a trip to the ER, to be treated for burns and a totaled four Wheeler. Please note, this is a foreshadowing of another event.  Later in the trip. While borrowing a pastor's old pick up. I glided down one of the many Oregon mountains only to find I had no brakes. As I rear ended the car in front of me within bumped into the car in front of it, the car behind me. I crashed into me and sandwiched me between the injured car one.

And it.  For car power, just standard stuff. No one was injured. I must say though, that I was sore for days after. , but everyone was angry at me until the pastor showed up. Who was also a local police officer and identified that the brake line, which he had just installed himself had broken, loose, leaving me with, as I said, no breaks. Yeah, typical four-car pile up in Oregon 22 year old. Anyway.  I finally got home to Tennessee with no further incidents.  Until the day after my return.

No one is fully cognizant of how many times. They have cheated death while being blissfully unaware. However I was fully aware of this one accident. He'll be a girl, move into her dorm. She drove her father's brand new Nissan stanza. Clipped by a hit and run car. We careened across the highway, jumped a ditch . Nose, dive into the turf, leaving a hole, a foot and a half deep and flipped over with the rear of the car flying over. The front, our vehicle came to rest upside down. And demolished.

Neither of us were wearing a seatbelt.  I extricated us from the inverted wreckage. Walked across the street to a small cafe and was greeted by distraught

weeping patrons. Sure. They had just watched a fatality. I struggled to convince them I was a passenger in what was now just a crumpled piece of metal until he noticed a trickle blood running from my forehead. Instigated. By an embedded shard of glass.  If you don't believe that your life can flash before your highs?

It did. For me. In that moment. When we were airborne.  That may have been caused. Of course by my head slammed me against the windshield on impact. But I had that type of experience done the last.  Assessing the damage in the wrecker service parking lot, the roof was smashed down to the point where you could barely stick your hand between it and the steering wheel.  Yeah, we both walked away shaken, but with no serious injuries.  No one who viewed the wreckage believed there was no fatality. In the crash.  Never a boring day with me.

And what about you?  What injuries? What crashes, what accidents have happened in your life?  Maybe there were some that you cheated death and knew it. And. Others you cheated death and you didn't know it.  You may have had serious injuries. And still struggled today from the pain. That came from those wounds.  But there's always something fascinating to me. About.  Some people just being accident prone.  That would be me.  But I hope it's not, you.

I'm Lyndon Wolfe, and this is Here for the Memories, my audio memoir. I thank you for joining, and I hope you do visit again. And you know you're always welcome.  Keep making memories, because memories are the thing that makes life fascinating.
