Here For the Memories
Here for the memories thought-provoking audio memoir shorts filled with stories, humor, anecdotes and commentary on social, cultural, business and religious issues. Whatever Lyndon remembers and thinks will entertain, challenge and inform is a possible subject. The collection of memories about one's life allows for the development and refinement of a sense of self, including who one is, how one has changed and what one might be like in the future.
Speaker 2:Greetings and salutations. I'm Lyndon Wolfe, and welcome to my audio memoir called here for the Memories. I'm so glad you joined and have chosen to listen as I share a word, so many words, so little time. These are the words shared with me by a mentor and sage advisor from my past. He often said that words are life and bigger than life. He gave me much to ponder on many different subjects, but his elevation of words activated me. You see, I love words, big ones and small ones.
Speaker 2:I believe words are the essence of life More on that later, or at least they are the essence of experiencing life. A friend once told me that he only had two brain cells and when they bumped together it was called a thought. Probably more accurately stated it would be if you have two words left in your head and they bump together, that would be a thought. You may have already thought about this, pun intended, but you are being deluged by words, even subconsciously. You see, every thought we have are words, internally spoken. Not only does our world bombard us with verbiage, but even images get translated into words, spoken or unspoken. Lately, I've found myself obsessing over such words as crafty and savvy, small but gestating, with meaning and nuance. Before that it was ubiquitous. Which is a word that describes words and, invariably, which is when words happen? I've often said or spoke words that I wanted Piper's first word to be linguistics. Is that too much to ask? Seriously? I'd even would have even settled for semantics or didactics. Instead, I got a guttural noise that I interpreted as my dad is the most exquisite homo sapien on the planet. That's got to be accurate, don't you think? Or maybe it was simply her passing gas and I surmised it was some grandiose description of my superlative persona. You can only wish.
Speaker 2:Anyway, while you have been listening to my words, mindless, shrivel or not, you have been uttering words, vocally, silently or both, and those words frame, describe and eventually create who we are. I'm not suggesting we can speak reality and existence by fiat, which is a verbal decree. You'll create something from nothing. Only God can do that, as you will later hear. But our words, internal or external, do have power. They can, will influence both good and bad. Positive and negative Words can cut down or build up. So what would be the one word you wish others would use to describe you? For me, and unfortunately I'm not sure it's true, it would be the word faithful. Is your desired word, something that rattles around in your mind and then frequently works its way to your lips? If so, it might very well define you In an unusual dynamic. The word word does define someone who is both exquisite and superlative. I'm speaking now of the Greek word for word, logos. Its exact definition is elusive, but we often hear things such as reason, wisdom, things such as reason, wisdom, divine logic, universal principle. Now, that's a mouthful right, and as close to describing the essence of life as language allows, I do believe, and it describes someone.
Speaker 2:I will leave it to you to research this, but I would suggest finding a Christian Bible. Turn about 80% of the way through, search for the Gospel of John and, with an open mind and heart, read the first chapter. Spoiler alert it goes something like this In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him, all things were made. Without him, nothing was made. That has been made In him was life.
Speaker 2:The Word In the Word was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. I hope that today, my words and your words are full of grace and truth. I hope that today, my words and your words are full of grace and truth, that our words are a reflection of the Word that took up residence with us on the very planet His words flung into existence the Word who turns darkness into light, who brings life where there is none. I'm Lyndon Wolfe, and this is here for the Memories. Please come back and visit often, until we meet again. May your memories be filled with hopeful, positive and encouraging words that give you an extra amount of energy for living in the present.
